    Channel 4's Big Art Project

    Author: Dan. Views: 584
It's a once in a lifetime opportunity the chance to get involved in the commissioning of a work of art, courtesy of Channel 4.

But it's just not any work of art. A big work of art. A big, significant work of Public Art. And RAG think it should happen in Worthing, West Sussex.

Through the Channel 4 Big Art Project, RAG (working with business partnership Worthing First Creative and Worthing Arts Council), are encouraging people to nominate Worthing Seafront as a location for a major piece of public art.

Channel 4's Big Art project lets the public:

    • nominate a site for one of the six works to be commissioned
    • champion the cause of your site if it's shortlisted
    • engage with the process of commissioning and creating these big art works
    • explore the questions around public art in Britain today
    • join in the big debate.

Just click the link below, and then click the 'nominate' link in the text. It takes around a minute to suggest a site; make it Worthing Seafront!.

This will be fantastic for Worthing. It feels really exciting here right now, with all the work that RAG have done to put arts centre stage finally paying off.

I saw the Teville Gate regeneration plans, and the display by Worthing Evolution in the Guildbourne Centre, and am pleased to see RAG involved in the process of both of these.

A piece of landmark art would be the icing on the cake, and a great focal point for Worthing. I hope Channel 4 choose us!
