The Artist as Cartographer
Artists' Workshop
Sunday 11th November 10am -4pm
Led by Charlotte Snook: Senior lecturer at Central St. Martins School of Art
Anything can be mapped and most things are: places, galaxies, histories, bodies, philosophies, devices and databases: Roger Fawcett Tang
Art is something human beings make to present to others their understanding of their place in the world: Lawrence Weiner
The aim of this workshop for artists is to provide a creative environment for ideas to develop, and to inform and support new directions for work, culminating in an exhibition in late January 2008 at 12 Claremont, Hastings
The workshop will include a powerpoint presentation of how artists have used abused and subverted maps and mapping, from Breughel to �Blast'
SoCo welcomes the participation of artists and designers working in 2D, 3D and time based media.
