From fiery flamenco to child-friendly calypso, acoustic rock to published poetry, all laced with artist's open houses, studios and other exhibitions the independent Artists & Makers festival looks set to be the highlight of the summer.

Organised by RAG, and supported by a grant from Horsham District Council, the event includes open houses, studios and exhibitions featuring over one hundred artists and makers, a showcase for published members of West Sussex Writers' Club, performances by Simpatico Flamenco and events at Worthing Museum & Art Gallery.

There's also the South Coast launch of new novel 'Jack and Sal' by acclaimed author Anthony Cropper, and two nights of music and poetry from popular arts club Roundabout featuring Arrowsmith-Stezaker, The Bamboo Band, Adrian Crick and guests. "We've grown from a small, Worthing art trail into one of the biggest events in the West Sussex arts calendar," says organiser Dan Thompson, "with something on offer for everyone from flamenco fans to fine art lovers, from children to Charles Saatchi!"

Artists & Makers events run throughout July, and lead up to exhibitions at The Capitol, Horsham and The Chequer Mead, East Grinstead in the autumn.

The Artists & Makers open houses and studios take place on Saturday 10th - Sunday 11th and Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th July and showcase contemporary arts and crafts at venues across Worthing, Horsham and the surrounding district.

The full-colour, pocket-sized Artists & Makers guide with RAG's distinctive cartoon mascot on the cover is available from venues across Sussex
