Artists and Makers Festival 2008 - Booking Now!
After a record-breaking Artists and Makers Festival in July 2007, organisers the Revolutionary Arts Group are laying plans to make 2008's event even better.

This year's Festival brought together events organised by the Revolutionary Arts Group, Two by Four Studios, West Sussex Writers' Club and Rainbow Shakespeare. Hobby and leisure artists were well represented, with events from Southwater Art Club, Rusper Art Group and over a dozen clubs and groups who make up the Textile Arts Forum.

And over 100 artists had work on show when 30 artists opened their houses and studios, taking over 50,000 in sales in just 16 hours - over 3000 per hour!

As well as providing an exciting event for local residents, the Artists and Makers Festival saw visitors come from London, Brighton, Chichester, Arundel, Kent and Hertfordshire.

Special guest Andrew Collins, a well-known writer and broadcaster, joined the Festival's Hall of Fame. Past guests include comedian Dave Gorman, acts from the Big Chill Festival, and artist Bill Drummond - perhaps best known as half of legendary band KLF and for burning a million pounds on a remote Scottish island.

Local clubs, groups, businesses and artists are now being invited to join the Artists and Makers Festival 2008. The Festival runs from 4th - 20th July, with artists' open houses, studios and gardens on 5th, 6th and 12th, 13th July. Venues can be in Worthing Borough, and across Horsham District, with events grouped around Bolney, Cuckfield, Cowfold to the east and Pulborough to the West.

Any organisers wanting to stage an event under the Artists and Makers Festival umbrella can choose a date within the festival period, or take part in the open house and studios programme. Full details are included in an information pack available from the Revolutionary Arts Group. The closing date for bookings is 31st December.

"We've got a strong Festival with great loyalty from our visitors,'" says Festival organiser Dan Thompson, "and in 2008 we're planning to support more artists in open houses and studios, build a busier music programme, and add some unusual art in public places!"
