An ironic, deadpan humour runs through Ps-Dr. Names work; as a Pseudo-Doctor of Arthysics, she is concerned with human subjectivity and the acquisition of knowledge. Arthysics is based upon the theory that the phenomenon of art is equivalent to, and has the effect of, daydreaming. Ps-Dr. Names works and practices in the field of theoretical arthysics whilst her other focus is centred on physically interpreting daydreams; she interprets her daydreams in literal and systematic ways, producing artworks that are usually image based. Curiosity about influences of Postmodernism, mass-production, mass-media, time slipping through the fingers and throwaway culture upon the individual within social structures, emanate from her works; higher issues of social concern are interwoven with ponderings, images and objects that are recognisable as, perhaps seemingly banal, parts of everyday life. Arthysics is the conceptual justification for Ps-Dr. Names more frivolous, surreal daydreams, whilst at the same time, Arthysics (pseudo-science that explains and measures art in a pseudo-scientific way) is actually born out of daydreaming.
Ps-Dr. Names is currently lecturing on arthysics around the country...
