Getting ready for the Brighton Festival? Warm up your artistic taste-buds with a special spring Artists & Makers at St Matthews.
Sumptuous textiles, exclusive contemporary paintings and prints, handmade furniture, beautiful frames and mirrors, cushions, quilts and other affordable - but unique contemporary arts and crafts are set to fill St Matthews on the first weekend in May.
The exhibition features new Revolutionary Arts Group members alongside some special guests. Northbrook graduate Sue Harding has become well known for her paintings which use elements of vintage photographs, creating nostalgic holiday images. Guest artist Katie Bird's work is also nostalgic, including old buttons and fabric in delicate collages. Painter Endel White will make his RAG debut, after popular exhibitions at Horsham's The Capitol.
And guest maker Robert Elliot produces handmade chairs, which won him the Sussex Heritage Trusts Craftsman 2006 award.
A number of RAG's most popular artists will be at the show, including Debbie Zoutewelle, Dan Thompson, Tracey Thompson, Sheila Guyatt and Nathan Bean. The 1/12th scale Number 18 Gallery will also be at the event, featuring tiny originals by Sussex artists.
This is like a little bit of the Brighton Festival but closer to home, says exhibition organiser Dan Thompson, with a range of work to add a fresh spring touch to any interior.
Artists & Makers at St Matthews, Tarring Road, Worthing takes place from 7 9pm on Friday 4th May.
The event will also be open from 10am 5pm on Saturday 5th May. RAGs fairtrade caf will be open during the event. |
