Folk singer, songwriter and raconteur Richard Digance visits Worthing�s Pavilion Theatre for an evening of songs, rhymes and rambling stories on Saturday September 04.

Richard�s career has been lengthy and diverse, from a BAFTA Nomination as a TV entertainer to supporting Steve Martin and Robin Williams. Richard is part of The Virgin Anthology of Songwriters for his contribution to British comedy songwriting and for over half a century he has travelled the world with just a guitar and his immense collection of stories.

Comic performance poet John Hegley is to headline the first ever Worthing Comedy Festival.

Set for 10-12 September, the festival is hosted and organised by Matt's Comedy Club, the up and coming family-friendly comedy showcase that has been running nights in Worthing since 2008.

The second season of the highly successful National Theatre Live project will launch in Autumn 2010 and will again bring some of the National�s theatre productions to cinema screens around the world.

The season launches on 14 October with Complicite's 'A Disappearing Number' live from the Theatre Royal, Plymouth. Directed by Simon McBurney, awards have included the Olivier Award for Best New Play (2008).

On 9 December 'Hamlet' will be broadcast, directed by Nicholas Hytner and featuring Rory Kinnear in the title role, David Calder as Polonius, Clare Higgins as Gertrude, Patrick Malahide as Claudius and Ruth Negga as Ophelia.

The New Year starts with a unique combination of dance, theatre and music: 'FELA!' explores the Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. 'FELA!' � which has won a TONY award will be broadcast on 13 January 2011.

Danny Boyle�s production of 'Frankenstein', a play by Nick Dear, based on the novel by Mary Shelley will follow on 17 March 2011. The Production marks Danny Boyle�s return to the theatre after a 15-year absence.

Also in the new season will be Chekhov�s 'The Cherry Orchard', directed by NT Associate Director Howard Davies, whose recent productions of Russian plays have enjoyed great critical acclaim. Zo� Wanamaker will play Madame Ranevskaya.

Top comedy magician John Archer – the Magic Circle Stage Magician of The Year – is the showstopping headliner at the next eagerly awaited Matt's Comedy Club gig in Worthing.

The family friendly comedy club with a growing reputation has landed one of the top names on the comedy magic circuit for their next night of fun on Friday (25 June) at The Dome Function Suite on Worthing seafront.

Award-winning Coventry-based theatre company Theatre Absolute premieres its brand new production All The Things I�d Do For You at its empty shop theatre venue in Coventry from 14 to 17 June.

The all-new production, written and directed by award-winning playwright Chris O�Connell, is a desperate love story and the first
play in a programme of work created by the company that will bring intimate and epic theatre to the heart of Coventry city centre over the next 18 months.

All The Things I�d Do For You is the first play to be written specifically for the UK�s first professional shop front theatre, and the intimate confines of the former �Fishy Moores� fish and chip shop in Coventry city centre mean audience members can expect to be right at the heart of the drama.

Eric Idle's Spamalot is touring the country and parks its horse at Brighton's Theatre Royal from 21-26 June.

And heading up the cast are comedian Marcus Brigstocke as Arthur, King of the Britons, and Jodie Prenger as The Lady of the Lake.

Enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon with a mix of music, Arabic dance and silliness this weekend when the Floating Fish Cabaret descends once more upon Worthing's Lido for the first of a string of spring into summer slots.

Presented by SWAG (Sunny Worthing Arts Group), the entertainment starts at 2pm on Sunday (23 May) and runs through until 5pm. With places to get food and drink on hand, plus children's amusements, it's a great place to relax. And it's free!

Look out – there's a monster coming! Well, not actually a monster but Three Bonzos and a Piano.

The largest number of Bonzos still playing together anywhere on the surface of the earth will be bringing their diabolical mayhem to the Komedia on Sunday (23 May) as part of the Brighton Festival.

The National Theatre’s NT Live project – which broadcasts live theatre performances direct from London’s National Theatre to cinema screens all around the world - has been an outstanding success.

 

The original pilot scheme to screen performances from four National Theatre plays has been extended and will now broadcast Dion Boucicault’s sell-out comedy of manners ‘London Assurance’ on June 28th before the pilot scheme closes. A second series of NT Live is planned to begin this Autumn.

 

Sir Nicholas Hytner, artistic director of the National Theatre said that the broadcasts allow tens of thousands of people to see a production, rather than the 900 or so who can attend the National Theatre. The original project has seen ‘Phedre’, ‘All’s Well That Ends Well’, ‘Nation’ and the most successful to date, Alan Bennett’s first new play for five years ‘The Habit of Art’ which was screened in West Sussex at The Capitol Theatre Horsham and the Duke of York's Cinema Brighton on 22nd April. The broadcasts also feature behind-the-scenes interviews with the actors and directors.

There's a strong line-up for the latest Floating Fish Cabaret at Ye John Selden in Salvington Road on 30 April.
