Five commissions in Sussex
An important and prestigious competition has been announced for artists living or practising in Adur district
Adur Council are looking for up to five pieces of art in any medium for permanent public exhibition in Adur, in a series of commissions funded by Tesco. The chosen designs will be selected on the following basis:
- they should reflect the particular characteristics of Adur and the aspirations of the people here
- they may be representational or challenge visual concepts
- the designs could be site specific or have the capability of being moved to different areas of the district, and could be displayed internally or externally
The prospective designs with initial drawings, models and production plans as appropriate to be submitted by the 1st September 2011. A shortlist will be chosen and then the shortlisted artists will be asked to present their projects in person to a selection committee at 7.00pm on 9 September at the Adur Civic Centre.
Advice and assistance on production will be available. The artist�s previous experience will not be part of the selection criteria.
Up to �25,000 is available for each piece selected for its total production costs.

5 September 2011 Selection Panel choose short list
9 September 2011 Selection Panel meet with short listed artists for final decision on pieces
