Striking, large scale, black and white vessels produced by Newcastle based ceramic artist Catherine Warwick are currently displayed at Washington Arts Centre, Sunderland as part of their Taking Tea exhibition. This event celebrates new, decorative art and ceramics from a selection of the foremost national contemporary craft makers.
Catherines sculptural designs have taken 4 years to produce using a combination of slip casting and hand building techniques. Much of her inspiration has been drawn from 60s Op artists such as Bridget Riley and explores how two dimensional optical patterns translate on to a three dimensional surface.
Catherine who has previously exhibited at The Ideals Homes Exhibition and Chelsea Flower Show hopes that her new collection will attract interest from interior designers and individuals looking for something visually different to compliment their homes or businesses.
