107.7 Splash FM can point to the generosity of its listeners and the tireless commitment of its staff in going out and collecting the money for the success of its Give us a Quid Campaign.

On Monday 17th January the Station raised 8,882 between 6am and 6pm for the DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.

Throughout the day listeners pledged money for requests and dedications, and the Splash FM Radio Car manned by News Editor Justin Stacey and Presenter John Roberts covered the Worthing area collecting money from individuals and companies.

Guests during the day included a Littlehampton woman in Phuket helping with the clean up, a pastor in Sri Lanka helping the people of the area and a Lancing woman putting together aid to be shipped out to the Maldives. There was also a visit from RAG's Dan Thompson and Roundabout Tsunami Appeal performer David Pickersgill, who performed Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' live on air.

Other celebrities also pitched in, with Keith Emerson playing live in the studio with Kevin Spector and ex-Jungle resident Mike Read joining Dave Hunt to talk about the charity single hes written.

There was also an on-air charity auction for a unique piece of music memorabilia. A poster from the Brighton Centre Abba Fest show last summer, signed by all four members of the band, eventually sold for six hundred pounds.

All day businesses, schools and other people in the area dug deep and gave to the fund.  The Splash Crew were in the Guildbourne Centre collecting and every mile spent travelling around Worthing picking up donations was matched pound for mile by Splash FMs MD Roy Stannard.

Roy said I am tremendously proud of our listeners and staff for devoting a day to the plight of others and digging deep into their pockets to raise such a fantastic amount. It demonstrates the fact that Splash FM has a loyal audience and a compassionate one.
