Drawing on stone for Worthing beach

Would you like to see your drawings set in stone? Worthing Regeneration are commissioning an artist whose drawings will be carved into a series of boulders on Worthing beach.

Splash Point, at the eastern end of Worthing seafront, has been designated as an activity zone within the Masterplan and Seafront Strategy. New and improved play, sports and cultural facilities will be located in the area, which already includes a beachside cafe, recently opened artists' studios and new crazy golf course.

The Borough Council has been successful in securing £500,000 from CABE’s Sea Change Programme for the complete re-landscaping of Splash Point. The project has been the subject of an international design competition which was won by Craft:Pegg.

An important element of the winning design was the installation of large boulders around a planned water feature. A number of the boulders will be engraved with images which have a local connection, tell a local story or celebrate a local celebrity.
