    Hot Dogs and Rocket Fuel
Jonny Hannah's one-man show at Brighton's Castor + Pollux is entitled 'Hot Dogs and Rocket Fuel' and is a riot of rockabilly colour.

There are linocuts, silkscreens and hand-painted cut-out oil cans (at a very wallet-friendly 120 each) along with pictures in frames.

Jonny was born & bred in Dunfermline, in the kingdom of Fife.

He studied illustration at Liverpool Art School and the Royal College of Art and has worked as an artist/illustrator since 1988. His distinctive hand-lettered book covers can be seen everywhere and his cottage industry Cakes and Ale Press produces all manner of silkscreened goodies, mostly printed at BIP in Brighton.

'Hot Jazz Special', published by Walker Books, was shortlisted for the 2005 V & A Illustration Awards. This dapper dresser's other passions include Hank Williams, the odd fine whisky, and dancing to jumping jive 45s, whilst constantly pondering the life & times of the mysterious Rocket Man.

The show runs until 12 October and is open 10am until 5pm every day. Castor + Pollux is at 164-166 King's Road Arches, Lower Beachfront, Brighton BN1 1NB - under the arches opposite Middle Street. Tel: 01273 773776.

Now this show I'd like to see - there's a poster down our road and it looks great, Jonny's retro aesthetic nudged up against posters for the local speedway track which have their own retro look and feel.

Hopefully, I'll make it over ... I'll have to try not to spend too much if I do make it though.
