    Postcard Extravaganza
    Monday, January 10 2005 @ 01:43 PM GMT
    Author: Dan Views: 203

Its only a little thing (about 10 by 15cm actually) but a blank postcard could make a big difference.

Two of the leading arts groups in the south of England have teamed up, and want to put your work in front of a huge audience at a massive, high-profile, international art exhibition, to be staged during the Brighton Festival Fringe.

All you have to do is email RAG with your snail-mail address. We'll send you a postcard, you can add your mark painting, drawing, collage or whatever you feel inspired to do to the blank side of a postcard. Then add a stamp to the addressed side and post it.

The postcards will be auctioned at an exhibition on 22nd May 2005, from 5pm at the New Madeira Hotel. The event will raise funds for charity Moor Arts, an innovative charity that provide arts opportunities for adults with mental health problems, and RAG, who provide support for artists and makers and organise an annual arts festival on the south coast.

The Postcard Extravaganza was established by Moor Arts four years ago, and has become a massive fundraiser for the group. Without the support of the hundreds of artists and celebrities who send postcards, Moor Arts couldnt provide workshops in hospitals and day centres.

For this, the third Postcard Extravaganza, theyve teamed up with RAG so funds raised will support both Moor Arts and the annual Artists & Makers Festival, which takes place across West Sussex.

And while the new partnership between RAG and Moor Arts gives the annual postcard extravaganza a great future, its your contribution that matters most.  So please be creative, make us happy when we pick up our post, let us put your work in front of a huge audience and support the arts in the south of England. Thank you.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed a postcard so far. If you're an artist or deisgner and you haven't sent a card yet, it'll only take a little time to colour, paint, draw, print ... whatever takes your fancy ... and you'll be supporting two worthwhile organisations, RAG and Moor Arts. Email your snail-mail address to [email protected] if you'd like a postcard.
