Buckets, Spades & Midcentury Modern

Dig out your bucket and spade, knot your head hankie and join London's celebrated show for a day at the seaside. Britain's Modernist icon-by-the-sea, the De la Warr Pavilion, plays host again to the only show in Britain where you can bag design classics from the likes of Arne Jacobsen, Aalvar Alto and Robin Day and see the latest young designers (People Will Always Need Plates, Vitamin, Soop) inside a Modernist building. Shop for Verner Panton and Charles and Ray Eames or take away an antique of the future from the best of British.
To add to this exciting event Artists Ellard and Johnstone will present new video installations focusing on Mendelsohn buildings across the world and an exhibition exploring the De La Warr designer Mendelsohn as a visionary as much as an architect. An exhibition of Bridget Smith's awe-inspiring photographs of the restoration will be on show. Outside the Pavilion there will be a temporary structure by artist Richard Wilson, entitled 'Not Wanted On Voyage', inspired by the building structure and location. Not to mention an exciting new project for the Summer from Turner Prize-winner Jeremy Deller.

Midcentury Modern is on Sunday 11th June, from 11am - 4pm at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill on Sea. All that in a seaside setting for £4.50.
