Comedy club to host 'pay as you laugh' open mic night for charity

It's a bit of a world first at Matt's Comedy Club, Worthing, on 11 April with an ingenious charity 'pay as you laugh' Open Mic night.

MC and co-founder Russ Bravo explains: "We thought it would be fun to try something different and raise funds for a good local cause at the same time.

"So we've dropped our usual open mic ticket price down from 5 to just 2, and will be giving everyone a 'chuckle cup' on their way in. They'll be encouraged to put small change in each time they laugh maybe 10p for a smile, 20p for a chuckle and 50p for a good belly laugh, but it's entirely up to them.

"All proceeds from the night will go to Worthing Churches Homeless Projects."

Lined up for the show will be local acts old and new, mixing gags, observational humour, mime, music and more. A couple of spots are still available aspiring performers should call Russ on 077200 40456.

Tickets for the show at The Empress Suite, 32-34 Marine Parade (top floor), Worthing are available from usual Matt's outlets Park Life, Bath Place; Music Mania, West Buildings; Green Cuisine, Rowlands Road; Sticky Drawers, South Street; The Lazy Brunch, Goring Road and St Matthew's Church Office, Tarring Road. They're also available from www.wegottickets.com/mattscomedyclub (+ booking fee of 80p).
