Character clowning and prime silliness in store at comedy club

Gigs sell out regularly now at Matt's Comedy Club, Worthing's family-friendly night out, and they're promising a cracker of a night for their next show on Thursday 28 April.

Headliner will be wonderful character comedian Joanna Neary (below right), who comes highly recommended following a string of Edinburgh Festival shows, and TV appearances on That Mitchell & Webb Look and Skins.

Expect a succession of loopy characters – imagine Morwenna Banks meets Joyce Grenfell and Alan Bennett with a side helping of Bjork – plus a Pan's People-esque dance spoof that has to be seen to be believed.

Head for http://www.joneary.co.uk/ to find out more about Sussex-based Jo, a regular at Brighton's Komedia.

Called "a national treasure" by The Argus, The Guardian also praised Jo's "highly original songs and monologues".

Support sees a return for charmingly silly songsmith Jenny Lockyer (left) and there are the daft ditties, poems and gags of host Russ Bravo to get you started.

Tickets are £8 (£6 concessions) from the usual outlets:

Eclipse Cafe Bar, Goring Road (01903 244111)
Music Mania, West Buildings (01903 203489)
Green Cuisine, Rowlands Road (01903 211338)
Parklife, Bath Place (01903 207777)
St Matthew's Church Office, Tarring Road (01903 207024)

Or by calling 077200 40456 or 01903 218026.

Matt's Comedy Club is supported by Worthing Arts Council, Sea Change and Worthing Borough Council. The club has a fan page on Facebook, and you can also watch video clips of past shows at www.youtube.com/mattscomedyclub
