Jake & Dinos Chapman in Hastings

The early career of Jake and Dinos Chapman gets a retrospective at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery.

The complete portfolio of etchings from the ‘Gigantic Fun’ series and some of their early animal sculptures are included in the exhibition.

In the museum's Long Gallery are a selection of the Chapman’s portrait paintings from the series ‘One Day You Will No Longer Be Loved', shown amongst the larger portraiture display of the museum’s permanent collection. In this series, the brothers have altered anonymous aristocratic portraits from the 18th and 19th centuries with deformed and morbid characteristics.

Jake and Dinos Chapman were brought up in Cheltenham and Hastings, and both studied at the Royal College of Art. They found fame with the 'Young British Art' movement in the 1990s.

Jake and Dinos Chapman: Once Upon a Time in Hastings is on show until 14th March 2010 at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery,
Bohemia Road, Hastings.
