Comedy circuit favourite and Radio 4 star to headline Worthing gig
The UK’s top one-liner writer and gagster Milton Jones headlines the latest Matt’s Comedy Club night in Worthing next month.
Since his debut on the comedy circuit in the mid-90s, Milton has crafted an enviable reputation as one of the funniest gag men on the live circuit, as well as featuring regularly on TV and in his own BBC Radio 4 series.
Described as “King of the surreal one-liners” by The Times, he has been Perrier-nominated for his Edinburgh shows and in 2003 won the Time Out ‘Best Comedy Performance’ Award as well as a Bronze Sony Award in 2000 for The Very World of Milton Jones (BBC Radio 4).
“As a fledgling comedy club, it’s great for us to be able to get someone of Milton’s pedigree,” says organiser and host Russ Bravo. “We expect tickets to go fast.”
Milton will be performing an extended set for the gig on 24 September (8pm) at The Dome Function Suite.
Support will be from host Russ Bravo, performing his usual mix of daft songs, performance poetry and silly comedy. Russ has this year published Three Sussex Poets (White Door Press) with fellow local poets Steve Carroll and Martin Collins, and in October is doing a guest set at Birmingham’s Laughing Sole comedy club.
Matt’s Comedy Club has a family-friendly ethos and welcomes anyone from around 12 upwards.
Tickets are £7 for adults (£5 concessions) from the venue, Steve's DVDs in Warwick St, Music Mania in Crescent Road, St Matthew’s Church office on 01903 207024 and on 077200 40456
