Worthing Arts Network's Seafront Art
A network representing thousands of people involved in the arts is holding an open meeting after announcing it has secured £10,000 to run a programme of events on Worthing seafront.Worthing Arts Council, a network of arts organisations and keen individuals, is planning a series of events around the regeneration of the town's Splash Point area.
With members like Worthing Music & Arts Festival, the Textile Arts Forum, the Sunny Worthing Arts Group and Worthing High School, the group represents an estimated 10,000 people of every age involved in arts activity in the town.
It announced it had secured the £10,000 funding from Worthing Regeneration, to develop a programme of activity around the redevelopment of seafront landmark Splash Point, at a meeting last month.
The area on Worthing's promenade is about to be redesigned, with half a million pounds secured by the Worthing Regeneration team from the CABE, the government's advisor on architecture, urban environment and public space.
Also under discussion at the meeting will be the Adur & Worthing Empty Shops Network, which is planning a series of arts events in empty shops in the area. The network was established by the Revolutionary Arts Group, who also run a national network for artists and organisations using empty shop spaces.
“Worthing Arts Council has been behind a number of exciting projects in the last five years,” said spokesman Dan Thompson, “and this funding means we can build on the good work and bring even more art to Worthing.”
The open meeting takes place at Coast Cafe, Splash Point, Worthing from 7.30pm on Thursday 4th June.
