Sparks Fly When Artists Network

Organisers of a networking event hope that their monthly meeting will see sparks fly – for all the right reasons!

Since 2001, the Revolutionary Arts Group have held regular networking events for artists, makers and creative people. And after taking a break in 2008 to concentrate on some 'one to one' sessions the group is relaunching its networking meeting in March under a new name – Spark.

The friendly and informal sessions see artists working in a wide range of ways, from traditional painters to edgy digital artists, come together to talk, find out about opportunities to work and exhibit, and find support and advice.

Three initial sessions will take place in Worthing, and the group are currently looking at venues in Brighton, Chichester and Horsham. The Worthing meetings take place in the comfortable surroundings of Pestle and Mortar, a deli and cafe specialising in local and organic produce.

“Most artists work in splendid isolation, but we've found that bringing artists together is like a pilotlight for creativity,” says organiser Dan Thompson, “and just a little spark can make things go bang!”

Spark takes place on 16th March, 20th April, and 18th May from 7pm, at Pestle and Mortar, Portland Road, Worthing.

The Revolutionary Arts Group organises Spark as part of its commitment to developing artists' careers, and is a member of the Artists' Professional Development network.
