Award-Winning Wildlife Artist In Sussex Exhibition
A finalist in the Wildlife Artist of the Year Competition is staging an exhibition in her home county of Sussex. Alison Ingram, a talented artist renowned for her beautiful abstract wildlife paintings, was a finalist in the David Shepherd Foundation's competition last year.
The competition's judges recognised her unique interpretation of wildlife, which sees well-observed birds and animals transformed into the centrepiece of colourful abstract paintings.
It's not her first award; Alison's oil paintings have previously won a gold award in the Wildlife Art Society's annual exhibition, and they were commended in the 2007 National Exhibition of Wildlife Art.
Alison's signature works include her striking puffin paintings, based on observations of their behaviour and interaction with each other and their environment. Another series focuses on red deer, observed day to day on the Warnham Deer Park Estate which is next to her home and studio.
And paintings of familiar British birds including avocets, Mandarin ducks, gulls, kingfishers and swifts have led to exhibitions at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust's famous Slimbridge headquarters.
From 1st April to 14th June, Alison will be exhibiting closer to home, with a show at Warnham Nature Reserve.
“It's great to be showing work so close to home,” says Alison, “and to give people a chance to see some new paintings before they travel to Slimbridge for my exhibition later this year.”
