Free Entry At Chichester's Pallant House Gallery

Art lovers will have the chance to explore one of the best collections of Modern British Art in the world for free when Pallant House Gallery dispenses with its entrance fee for the day on Saturday 31st January.

Chichester's Pallant House Gallery, which won the prestigious Gulbenkian prize in 2007, will be opening its doors from 10am to 5pm. Entrance will be free to everyone throughout the day.

The event will provide the opportunity for regular visitors and those who have yet to step inside the extended Gallery, which re-opened on 1 July 2006, to access all areas, including the exhibitions and permanent collections without paying a penny.

Current exhibitions include the popular Eileen Agar: An Eye for Collage, (until 15 March), Art Cymru: Modern Art in Wales in the De’Longhi Print Room (until 8 March) and the recently opened Lee Miller and Friends (until 29 March). Visitors will also have the chance to see the permanent collection which includes works by artists such as Peter Blake (pictured), Lucian Freud, Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso and Walter Sickert.

Other events include free ‘Artwork in Focus’ talks with volunteer guides throughout the Gallery, and free coffee tasting, provided by De’Longhi, the headline
sponsors of the Gallery for 2009.

A broad range of seasonal food and refreshments will be available to buy at the newly opened Field & Fork at Pallant House Gallery.

The Pallant House Gallery Bookshop, which stocks a unique selection of rare, out-of-print and remaindered books, as well as a range of artists’ multiples and prints
commissioned by the Gallery, will also be open to visitors all day.
