Chance To Change At Willingdon Community School
As part of Creative Partnerships` Change School programme, Willingdon Community School in East Sussex have begun a major transformation of practice in creative teaching and learning across the school.
Willingdon Community School are seeking to appoint a creative practitioner to inspire and lead staff and students through the early stages of planning and developing a creative project.
Working closely with the school's appointed Creative Agent and the Director of Specialism, the practitioner will bring fresh ideas, grounded in their ownpractice, to take outline plans from paper to reality. The practitioner will support the proposed line of enquiry “How can we teach creative thinking to develop creative thinkers?” with the initial focus being on Year 7. Creative thinking is a key emphasis of the new Year 7 curriculum and intrinsic to the PLTS (personal, learning and thinking skills) which are being developed in all curriculum areas.
Ideas so far include a Launch Day with the whole of Year 7 (nearly 200 students) in February 2009. For the successful applicant, this could mean leading a team of practitioners to deliver a variety of workshops to students and may also include some staff development for teachers involved in the project.
The initial appointment will be for up to 10 full days for planning and delivery between December and the end of February and there may be opportunities for further involvement as the project develops throughout the year.
Applications are welcomed from practitioners with a commitment to working in partnership with teachers and young people within a secondary school environment. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a CRB check. The fee is a maximum £200 per day (depending on experience) including travel. Interviews will be held on Friday 5 December.
To apply please send your CV and a supporting statement outlining why this partnership project is of interest to you and how you feel your experience as a creative practitioner would support it to: Fionnuala Rodgers, Director of Specialism, Willingdon Community School or email frodgers@willingdon.e-sussex.sch.uk
