Now They Now How Many Holes It Takes To Close An HMV

'It would take more than a hole in the roof to stop us selling music!' That's the cheeky message from staff at Worthing's independent music store after hearing that HMV have delayed their Worthing opening because of a leaky roof.

Revolutionary Music is a tiny independent in the tradition of legendary stores like London's Rough Trade, packed full of hard-to-find CDs, rarities and music memorabilia – and run by a small staff passionate about music.
The store's founder Dan Thompson has previously worked with bands like Menswear, Spitfire and Blur, DJed at clubs like Blow Up and The Zap, and also runs the Revolutionary Arts Group.
He has concentrated on specialising in music high street stores won't sell, with indie, folk and jazz all well represented. There is also a back catalogue of classic CDs from artists like Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and Paul Weller.

And Revolutionary Music offers a finding service, tracking down obscure CDs from around the world.

Since opening in March, the truly local store has staged regular instore appearances by local bands. And Revolutonary Music is hosting an afternoon of music during the Arundel Festival this weekend.

Revolutionary Music always stocks the latest release by local musicians, and also exhibits work by artists and makers from the Revolutionary Arts Group.

Happy customers have been busy nominating the store in the Worthing Business Awards, organised by Worthing First. The annual awards celebrate and honour the sheer hard work, talent and determination of the very best businesses in Worthing.

“Revolutionary Music has gone from strength to strength, bucking national high street trends,” says Dan, “proving that people want to 'Shop Local' and support Worthing's independent businesses.”

Revolutionary Music is at 9 Warwick Lane, Worthing and will be hosting an afternoon in Jubilee Gardens, Arundel as part of the town's festival this Saturday 23rd August from 2-6pm.
