Blaze at Shoreham's Tarmount Studios

Firefighters were called to a blaze at Shoreham's Tarmount Studios today (14th August).

The fire, started in a kiln, caused smoke damage to the studios which have moved from their former base in Tarmount Lane to an old Scout hut.
The studios in The Old Customs House, Brighton Road are currently home to around half a dozen artists.

Alison Taylor designs and makes fine silk clothing. Tanya Gomez produces functional and decorative ceramic ware, and Helen Strong makes sculptures out of bronze resin and paper.

Malcolm Jordan uses wood, Paul Morley is a furniture maker, and Martin and Cameron Fry design furniture and light fittings.

The artists opened the studios during this year's Adur Festival.
