Mad About Books

As part of the ‘Books Born in Hastings’ celebration at The Jenny Lind in September, local writer and press editor Kay Green will be running a series of discussions and workshops on issues that matter to both readers and writers.

Would you like to run a reading or workshop group? Have you ever wanted to be a writer? Have you ever tried entering a competition or submitting work to a magazine? What other ways are there of getting started? How would you deal with writing about ‘sensitive’ topics? Are there any subjects you think are taboo for writers?

If any of these questions are burning issues for you, come along, get some advice and have your say – or try this free-to-enter Competition. Send an essay or article, 1000 words or less, entitled ‘Writing Competitions: My View’ to Earlyworks Press at the Creative Media Centre, 45 Robertson Street, Hastings, Sussex TN34 1HL. There are prizes of books, and Earlyworks Press will pay £5 for any entries used on the website.

‘Books Born in Hastings’, in conjunction with the Coastal Currents Arts Festival, will be running from 29th August to 21st September. All events are free, and everyone is welcome.
