Sussex Arts Map Launched

Looking for theatre in Sussex? Want to know where arts and education meet in the county? Would like to know which venues have visual arts and which are just for music?

The new Sussex Arts Map from the Revolutionary Arts Group, available as a free pdf from this website, will get you where you need to be.

The idea came about after a development day held by CAMERA - the Creative And Media Diploma Research Alliance managed by Creative Partnerships, Hastings and East Sussex; and West Sussex County Council. The Revolutionary Arts Group's founder, Dan Thompson, was trying to follow the connections between everyone attending - and realised that the ideas behind Harry Beck's 1933 London Underground map, using a circuit diagram as inspiration, provided the answer.

He teamed up with Brighton illustrator Fred Pipes, and together they completed the Sussex Arts Map in under a week - listing key venues, groups and networks across the county and showing them by theme.

Version 0.1, released in early November 2007, has lines for Music, Theatres, Visual Arts, Networks and Education - with the one line reserved for Festivals. A further version, planned for release in early 2008, will see the addition of a Film line, further venues, and additional arts organisations.

The Sussex Arts Map is available as a free pdf, and can be printed freely. Click the image in this story or the link below to see the pdf.
