Peace Theme For Big Draw Tapestry
Chichester
Cathedral's Big Draw will take place on Wednesday 24 October from
10.30am-4pm. The theme of the day will be Peace -
inspired by the tapestries in the Cathedral, in particular the
Benker-Schirmer tapestry, designed in 1985 to commemorate Bishop
Bell's friendships with German churches and people.
Anyone who would like to join in with the Big Draw, which is suitable for all ages and levels of experience, will find 'base camp' in the Western Arm of the Cloisters. There are also a number of drawing books to give away (courtesy of Seawhite Ltd) while stocks last.
The event and entry to the Cathedral is free.

A giant
loom is being set up in the North Transept and the long thin drawings
produced during the day will be woven in to produce a colourful
abstract tapestry celebrating peace. There will be piles of brightly
coloured fabric, wool and even carrier bags which can be used to make
up the tapestry.
