The Opportunity
The appointed artists will need to consider: -
- The use of appropriate materials, which are durable to the risk of vandalism and suitable for external conditions. All artworks will need to consider how different members and age groups of the community may engage with them and should therefore be made and secured in a robust manner.
- Installation methods and access to the site.
- The importance of creating a safe structure which will be both ambitious in its design yet practical and functional in its surroundings.
- The relationship of the works to its environment, with a view to developing a better understanding and appreciation of the area and history of the site as a Garrison.
- A public artwork or series of related works, within the pocket park of the Garrison's new residential development.
- Celebratory event will take place at the end of the project to launch the commission for the local community and press.
