Emerging; Ingrid Plum in the Brighton Festival
Ingid Plum's latest work is a site specific installation at the Brighton Buddhist Centre in Tichbourne Rd. Delicately made origami lotus flowers, bearing the Heart Sutra and verses from the Seven Fold Puja, are reflected in a pool-like mirror, surrounded by deep green leaves. Situated in the centre of the second floor shrine room with the shifting sky also relected through the sky light above, the effect is quite stunning - especially from floor level!

Familiarising herself with the location, and talking with length with those who frequent the Centre, Ingrid has produced a work which is both sympathetic to its surrroundings and accessible to all. Open to the public between 12.30 and 2.30 on Mondays and Fridays during the Brighton Festival. It can also be viewed during the Centre's Open Day (see the What's On guide on this site) and on its "Zen in the Afternoon" on May 19th when Ingrid will also be leading a free origami workshop.

    Brighton Festival - What's Best?
Author: Dan on Tuesday, May 08 2007 @ 11:44 AM BST
I'm looking forward to getting over to see this, and a few of the open houses.

What other events can people recommend? What have you seen so far in the Brighton festival, or what do you see without fail every year?
