Worthing Wishes

RAG artist Ingrid Plum joined the group's activites for Worthing Pier Day - celebrating the local landmark's recognition as Pier of the Year 2006.

Members of the public were asked to write whatever they wished for, in particular what they wished for Worthing. They wrote their wishes on paper tags which were then tied around the white railing of the pier. When 100 wishes had been made and tied to the railings, it resembled a Buddhist temple where prayers are written on strips of paper and tied near a shrine.

And her work, taking inspiration from the modernist icon to look to the future, now features on the Worthing Evolution website.
