Artists' Courtyard
If you're visiting the Lake District, check out the Artists' Courtyard in Ambleside.
Caribou Arts has a great range of handmade books, cards, pottery and other nice stuff, and, next door is the Novel Cafe.
You can buy (or borrow from the shelves) a book to read, while drinking your cup of coffee - they sell yummy cake too! And if you're stuck for something to read, they'll make a recommendation.
The Artists' Courtyard is between Young's Furniture and the Football Shop in Lake Road, Ambleside. It's open April-Oct: 10am-6pm, Nov-March 10am-5pm and is well worth dropping in.
