Robert Pledger Coastal Landscape Exhibition
40 quirky oil paintings (over 60 metres of continuous painting) create one huge panorama when a coastal landscape painting with a difference by local artist Robert Pledger transforms Worthing Museum's Art Gallery from 15 April- 24 June.
Robert, one of the signatories of the original manifesto that launched RAG, draws his influences from the coastlines of Kent all the way to Cornwall for this exhibition. He has studied and exhibited locally for the last 10 years, and his work has always been concerned with exploring the story of landscape and the impact of man on the environment.
Curator Laura Kidner says of his work ‘Through the paintings Robert explores such themes as the primeval, historical and present, as well as the mystical and the unconscious made visible.’
Although the paintings form a continuous sequence you may be relieved to know that if you want to take one home you don't have to purchase them all! They are priced and framed individually. Robert also produces charcoal-drawing versions of his paintings if you prefer.
The exhibition is free to visit. The Museum is open Tues to Sat from 10am – 5pm each day.
