Annual Sculpture & Video Art Competition
This year Venice Sculture Park is organizing three different competitions for sculptors and video artists.
1 – SCULPTURE. The applicants in this competition will be chosen on the basis of aesthetic value.
Although the technical requirements outlined below must be met, the selection in this category will be based on the formal attributes of the project.
2 – CINETIC SCULPTURE. The artists that will be selected for this competition will be those who can better interpret the relation between sculpture and solar and/or wind energy. This relationship will manifest itself through movement, self-illumination or other ways that the artist can think of. This will be achieved by meeting also the technical requirements outlined below. Inventive, innovation and technical aspects will be the key elements considered in the selection process.
3 – VIDEO-ART This third competition is new for the Venice Sculpture Park.
The selected videos will be shown on a television screen located in a shower recess. This shower is part of the toilet building designed by Carlo Scarpa in 1957, and belongs to a group of three showers that are placed adjacent to the main block, under the open sky. The television set will be placed inside one of the showers, which will be fitted with a new Perspex door. The videos will be shown in loop throughout the day and night.
