BBC Want Artists For Royal Academy Summer Exhibition

For the first time next year and with the full collaboration of The Royal Academy, the BBC is making a series about the Summer Exhibition.

The programmes will go behind the scenes at the Academy during the build up to the exhibition, show the preparation and thought that goes into staging it and then be broadcast on BBC2 “as live” from the event itself on three consecutive days in June 2006.

As part of the background filming, the BBC are keen to follow artists as they prepare works for submission and then catch up with them at the show itself once their work has been selected (or rejected).

The BBC are hoping that, if you are one of those who has yet to make a start and is willing to share the experience of creating a work of art, you will get in touch. If you have already made a start but are willing to begin afresh, they'd also be keen to hear from you.

The BBC are interested in all forms of art and are very keen to see how many different techniques are used in the pursuit of creativity. The series will, it is hoped, inspire many more people to get involved in art and to become regular visitors or contributors to the Summer Exhibition.
