South East Open Studios Celebrates 10 Years
This year, the highly successful annual South East Open Studio event is celebrating its 10th anniversary. All practising artists and craft makers living in Kent or East Sussex are invited to take part and be featured in the full-colour Guide.
The Guide is distributed free across the counties and promotes over 200 artists who will be opening their studios to the public between Friday 9 June and Sunday 26 June 2006.
This event gives artists the chance to show visitors not only what they create, but also how and where they make it.
Artists and their visitors are often surprised and delighted by the enthusiasm generated by the experience of opening their workplace to the public.
Open studios take many forms. They might be a purpose-built workroom, a converted room in a house or even a garden shed. It is a great opportunity chance to meet old friends and make new ones. Visitors are always keen to see artists and their work together. Many say they like to see work in progress, ask questions about techniques and processes and sometimes a chance to buy that one-off treasure. Or just enjoy the pleasure of seeing art informally - ‘outside the gallery’.
Deadline for receipt of applications: Friday 27 January 2006
Application forms available now: send an A4 sae to: South East Open Studios, 1a Marion Cottages, Maidstone Road, Wrotham Heath, Kent TN15 7SN or via e-mail from lizgarnett@aol.com
