A Continuous Line of Dashes and Hyphens

Alexandra Dipple will exhibit a new work, A Continuous Line of Dashes and Hyphens, at Brighton's io Gallery.

In the installation, a single unbroken line of thousands of hyphens and dashes cut from daily and weekend newspapers will be pasted directly on the walls.

The small enclosed gallery space will be dissected by one thin line, with each individual hyphen as specific as the text from which it was lifted; the space below and above the hyphen forming a tower rising from the line and its reflection descending below ... like some imagined skyline.

Alex Dipple is a RAG artist, and two similar framed Lines of Dashes and Hyphens sold in the group's recent exhibition at Brighton's Start Gallery.

A Continuous Line of Dashes and Hyphens is at the io Gallery, 39 Sydney Street, Brighton from Friday 17th – Sunday 26th February,  open Monday - Saturday, 10am - 6 pm and Sunday 11am - 4 pm.

These are fantastic bits of work... and I can not wait to see this show.  I very much hope everyone make it and has a good look.
