RAG Artists In Temporary Gallery

The contemporary gallery, which has quietly reappeared back in its original venue, is about to start its fourth exhibition. And the new show features work from RAG artists Dan Thompson and Eva L.

123-124 Queen's Road, Brighton is an empty shop which makes a perfect gallery. Until a permanent tenant is found, contemporary gallery will be using the venue to hold fortnightly exhibitions promoting the best rising stars and established artists from the South East. The exhibitions feature installation artists, video, printmaking and photography alongside painting and sculpture.

In the fourth show in the current series, Dan Thompson will show his painted and collaged skateboards, which one critic said ‘bring out the scruffy teenager’ in everyone. Fellow RAG artist Eva L’s paintings are multi-layered and worked in multi-media, and often feature themes of decay and dereliction.

The exhibition also features beautiful, small, multi-layered abstract paintings by Sam Lock and a steel 'three dimensional drawing' by London installation artist Sarah Reilly, as well as an eight foot high ink drawing by Anne Young. The exhibition is unique in bringing together such diverse art forms and is intended to provoke a strong response from the public.

As the contemporary gallery is run by artists for artists, the commission rate is very low, so all work that's for sale is reasonably priced - whether it's paintings by the next hot talent or sculpture by familiar Brighton names.

The fourth exhibition opens on Monday and continues until Tuesday 10 May. Opening times are Mon - Sat 11.00am - 7.00pm and Sunday 12.00pm - 5.00pm
