RAG Sponsor Big Worthing Open!
"Your Art Gallery Needs You!" - that's the message Worthing Museum & Art Gallery are sending to Sussex artists.The first 'open' art exhibition at Worthing Museum & Art Gallery since 1996 provides a major opportunity for artists and makers to show work to an audience of thousands from 2nd July -24th September 2005. And RAG are proud to be sponsoring the exhibition.
The Big Worthing Open is open to anyone age 16 and over living East or West Sussex. Artists and makers can submit up to three recent artworks (only £4.00 each to enter) in any media. Entry forms (with further information on conditions of entry) are available from the museum from 1 March, and can be downloaded from this website from that date. They are also available from: Splash FM, Guildbourne Centre, Worthing and Newnum Print Ltd, 29 Oxford Road, Worthing.
Emma Ball, from Worthing Museum & Art Gallery, says, "This year we aim to exhibit over 100 artists from the local area. The selectors for this very special exhibition will include a curator from the museum and art gallery, one person from an artistic/teaching background and one person from a non-artistic background. They will choose a fair and representative mixture of all work submitted, on the basis of quality and variety".
Artists can submit their completed entry forms and fees to the museum between 1 April and 3 June. Submission of actual artwork takes place on 23 and 24 June and selection day will be 27 June. There will be a major launch for the exhibition on Friday 1 July with prizes for two winners and a
private view (to which all submitting artists are invited) to be opened by the Mayor of Worthing from 6.30-8pm.
