The Worthing Herald Charity Single

Three journalists from the Worthing Herald series have released a CD single to raise money for the Chestnut Tree House Appeal.

One-Shot Charlie by the Hailing Stones is now available online from www.longman-records.com and from the Herald reception in Chatsworth Road.

Featuring the combined talents of sports editor Richard Amey (guitars/bass), production editor Frank Horsley (drums) and reporter Jamie Hailstone (vocals) - this is one case when hearing is definitely believing.

Produced by Richard Durrant - it features three songs.

1.) One-Shot Charlie - a simmering funk original.

2.) One-Shot Charlie (remix) - a classic 80s dance version.

3.) The Weight - a unique version of the Band Song.

It's only £3 and all proceeds go to charity

So laid back it's horizontal, 'One Shot Charlie' is a stripped-back, down-and-dirty slice of deep-fried funk. Held together by the grooviest hammond this side of a Brian Auger track, courtesy of Tom Arnold, it's three minutes waiting for a Tarantino film to appear in.

'The Weight', meanwhile, is one of the greatest songs ever written. As befits Dylan's backing band, its lyrics either hold the key to understanding the universe , or are '60s nonsense. Whatever, it's a track that acts as a blueprint for the whole Americana scene. Does The Hailing Stones treatment do it justice? Well ... you'll have to buy the CD and support the Chestnut Tree House appeal to find out.
