Get on the Roundabout and celebrate this years National Poetry Day.
With a series of slightly anarchic poetry events throughout the day, and a free event at a boutique b&b in the evening, RAG Roundabout is again shouting about poetry from the rooftops of West Sussex.
Since 2001, Roundabout founder Dan Thompson has joined in the Poetry Societys annual poetry day, staging free performances across the area. Hes built a reputation as one of the most interesting performers joining the event. And this year, hell be scattering poems on postcards around Worthing town centre cafes, posting poems on the internet and staging a series of readings.
Hell round the day off with a special RAG Roundabout event at The Acacia, a boutique b&b recently rated as one of the best in Britain. Steve Carroll, a performance poet, will join Dan at the seaside bed and breakfast. Russ Bravo from Verit@s will also appear, and other guests are yet to be confirmed.
I want to ambush people with verse, says Dan, and make them enjoy it before they realise theyre listening to, or even reading, the dread poetry.
The Roundabout National Poetry Day event takes place at The Acacia, Warwick Gardens, Worthing from 7 9pm on Thursday 7th October. Admission is free - but places are limited so arrive early. Other events will happen around Worthing throughout the day.
