"James Doyle is tough, he likes a fight"

With just days until our petition supporting Worthing Museum & Art Gallery has to be presented to the council, it looks like the signatures are going to total over 6000.

We've already reached 5826 and know that many people have yet to return forms, either to us or to the Museum & Art Gallery.

From 11am - 12 noon this Saturday, 31st January, we'll be staging one last gathering outside the venue in Chapel Road, and the Bamboo Band (pictured) will be joining us to perform their new calypso, Save The Museum. Click 'read more' for an extract from the lyrics...

Save the Museum calypso by the Bamboo Band (www.bambooband.com)

James Doyle is the mayor of Worthing town
That's why you see him in his robe and gown

Chorus: James Doyle, Save the Museum for me

He has a flag upon his car
So everyone knows he is the star

Chorus

James Doyle is tough, he likes a fight
He goes out wrestling every night

Chorus

He fought Giant Haystacks, and Big Daddy
He unmasked Kendo Nagasaki

Chorus

Just like the chicken follow the hen
James Doyle is leader of the council men

Chorus

So Mayor Doyle with your chain and mace
Don't close the museum, it's a disgrace

Chorus

The council say they've got no cash
Doyle's the one to give them a lash

Chorus

Just like a bullet out of a gun
James Doyle's got those council men on the run

The Bamboo Band premiered this calypso at Roundabout last week, and I can't wait to hear it again; it's a great song. And I hear that both the mayor himself and Sheila Player, leader of the council, will be along to listen too.

Thanks to all who turned out in the miserable weather to hear the Bamboo Band.

The news is that the petition has topped 7300 signatures; far more than we ever expected. Thanks to all for their support.
