November saw RAG�s popular arts club Roundabout host the launch of �Ragged Edges�, a new anthology of work by Sussex poets.
Adrian Crick (pictured here, in an illustration from Ragged Edges), Eugenie Arrowsmith, Steve Carroll and Dan Thompson all feature in the book, which is published by RAG. The four poets, who write in very different styles, all performed on the poetry stage at Roundabout, at The Barn, Field Place, Worthing on Friday 28th November.
RAG�s Tracey Thompson says �While the launch of �Ragged Edges� ensured that spoken word was in the spotlight at Roundabout, there were musical interludes and art activities for children all night, too�.
Sue Hockleyford, who plays acoustic guitar and electric violin, performed on Roundabout�s main stage. Dan Belton, well known as a poet and painter with the Stuckist art movement, also appeared with his band the Dan Belton Experience (pictured). And 16-year-old singer-songwriter Rachel Hawker made her Roundabout debut.
Another young performer, poet Francesca Zoutewelle, performed original verse. Francesca is a member of the National Youth Theatre, and she recently came first in the Speaking Your Own Poem, Prose and Group Choral Speaking categories in the Worthing Music Festival.
The next event is on Friday 23rd January. Roundabout is a family-friendly event, and admission for adults costs �5 and for children just 50p. Tickets are available on the door.
